Because I am majoring in Network Security I am tuned into the Cyber Community. Everyone is a part of this community because we all have a phone, computer, or information we do not want shared. I was first exposed to information technology in high school when I attended EVIT, where I decided I wanted to help people secure their data. We all have a basic need to feel safe and secure.
Although I am currently not a part of any network security organizations, I look forward to joining the next Black Hat conference. I did get involved with DefCon in August of 2019. I felt like I learned a lot about the field by watching recordings of the speakers. I am committed to gaining as much information as possible while here at UAT, so that I can use my technical skills to keep both individuals and government safe.
I consider myself a teem player and have enjoyed working with other people here on campus. One example was last year when I worked with a group headed by Stephen Ouellette helping Taproot. Taproot is a company that consolidates incidences, audits, investigations, and root causes all in one convenient data base in order to develop corrective actions. Our group helped them build the front end or what you see on the app. This app was designed to help caretakers with low level tasks.
I have also used the basic computer and programing skills I have learned here at UAT to help a company I was working for at the time develop an online store. There was no one employed at the glass company with the computer knowledge to create this needed addition for their business.
Whether through programing or network security classes I enjoy gaining the knowledge and skill needed to help my community. I believe that communities grow when members help each other.
